According to MentalHealth.gov “mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. Activities to Boost Your Mental Health

Here are some things you can do to maintain your mental health:

  • Reduce work burnout. Individuals who are high achievers, perfectionist and are driven to constantly excel may experience burnout. Take a break, day off, vacation, adjust your work schedule to rest , relax and recharge.
  • Silence your inner critic and instead engage in positive self talk. View your accomplishments with gratitude and take pleasure in the challenges you have overcome.
  •  Imagery. Practice visualization, for example picture yourself sitting on the beach and listening to the crescendo of the waves rising and falling. Works for me!
  • Movement. Exercise reduces stress and improves cognitive function; allows you to effectively think and reason.
  • Sleep. Getting the right amount of sleep lowers stress and improves your mental performance.

These are such important highlights to helping maintain our mental health, and I know they should seem intuitive but it’s so good to see it periodically because the simple truth is just that we forget to do these things for ourselves. For me, it’s especially when working from home because it’s just so easy to overlook the basics.
