Visibility Increases Chances Of A Successful Job Search!

visibility increases chances of a successful job search

“Everything in the universe has a rhythm, everything dances.”

Maya ANGELOU

Let this year be your dance…Lets WORKTALK!

Job searches are dependent on visibility! The more visible you are, the higher your chances are of having your profile viewed by recruiters and employers. Therefore, maintain the connection to your job search by remaining visible! How does one remain visible you might ask?

Social Networking

Develop and maintain your online social network relationships, they could prove to be beneficial in your job search. Facebook and Twitter are great ways to connect and interact with many people of similar interest, at the same time, and in different geographical areas.

Share information with people in your network to let them know you are job hunting. Entrepreneur magazine contributor Jennifer Spencer states that “employers are increasingly using social networks to research potential hires …in fact, 70 percent of employers use social media to screen candidates during the hiring process.”  Online social networking is a great job search tool, so become engaged and remain visible!

Volunteering

How many persons have thought about helping others when they are not working? Volunteering is another good way of keeping visible. This act will show your resilience, get you involved in your community and could help you find a new career path. This activity will help you grow your network as you meet new people and enhance your expertise in your previous or future job. So, lend a hand…it may be worth it!

Newspaper

Years ago, the classified section of the newspaper was the place to look for jobs however; with the advent of technology people turned to the internet. Today, newspapers either partner with career job boards or have their own job boards online and are good ways for you to remain visible during your job search. Postings to job boards like CareerBuilder will also auto post to your local newspaper and will maximize your job search.

Maintenance

It’s important to periodically refresh your resume profile on the job boards. Set up email alerts for the jobs in which you are interested… let the vacancy information find you! This method will make your job search more organized and effective.

Lastly, TALK!  Most people use this form of communication daily and are already quite good at it!  So…start talking! Share your job search information with your trusted neighbors, family members and friends.

Every potential hiring entity uses social media in their evaluation process. I therefore agree that this is a powerful asset in job searching. One must at the same time exercise care in the use of this asset since carelessness can also have a negative impact and destroy all gains which may have been achieved otherwise.
It is not insignificant, for example, that in serious criminal investigations, one of the first places visited is a suspect’s social media presence, to get an insight of the individual’s personality, history and mindset .

    • T

Thank you! One should always exercise caution when using the web!
