The Rose Bud in My Garden
The lone rose indeed… a beautiful bud on my rose plant caught my eyes as I peered out from my safe harbor after a turbulent downpour. Other plants had lost their leaves as they swayed back and forth in the fierce wind and rain but the rose bud stood out in all its effervescent beauty. The massive old trees in the distance looked as if they were dancing as their powerful branches dipped and bowed to the mighty wind. However, neither wind nor rain was able to stop the rose from budding. The beautiful rose!

Contingency Allows Full Bloom – The Beautiful Rose
Life is a lot like the rose; delicate but fierce with its protective layer of thorns which if carelessly handled can easily inflict pain.
What do you do when sudden turbulence and storm clouds form in your life? Do you stick to your plan and hope for the best or do you adjust to face the challenge? Are there people who will support you during your storm? Do you have a backup strategy; a contingency plan? You will need more than a candle in the dark; you will need people you can depend on for emotional and other support.
Human beings are instinctively innovative, action-oriented, and storm-tough. Let the popular Jamaican saying “wheel and come again” become your motto for your contingency plan. It simply means when something fails, don’t give up, shake it off and try again.
So, when your plans don’t go the way they should, reach for your contingency, find your safe harbor – support, trusted friends and family. Overtime, you will learn to live the true meaning of “no man is an island”; people depend on each other at different times in life.
Lend Your Support During The Storm
While helping a dear friend through her storm, she complimented me on my strength and my ability to see things from different perspectives. I decided not to disagree with her at the time, but I can now declare without a doubt that I am like many people, I also face stormy situations from time to time. However, I focus on my strengths and view the moments as opportunities for self-learning and experience sharing. Undoubtedly, some storms may leave scars but over time and with care, the scars soon become memories. So, lend your support during a storm; it will make you feel happy and grateful. Helping others will help you!
Your level of preparedness will help you recover more quickly and safely from your storm. Like the lone rose in the garden that bloomed during the storm, you too must face your challenge and turn adversity into success!
