The Challenge – The Rocky Mountains
Summoning my self-assurance to do something bold, I accepted a challenge to celebrate a special moment in my life. My options were: do the usual dinner, nothing or seize the moment and make it unforgettable. Yup, I chose the latter; the unforgettable!
So, I boarded a train at the Manitou Springs station in Colorado and began my journey up the mountain to take in the spectacular Pikes Peak mountain range.
I chose an experience that took me out of my comfort zone to do something I would normally avoid. In doing so I rewarded myself for achieving this new milestone.
Pikes Peak – Make Your Moment
According to sources, the mountain is said to be the highest summit in the southern range of the Rockies. The varied topography is breathtaking as it offers up waterfalls, lush vegetation, boulders of every imaginable shape – a classic shaped diamond, gravel walls and magnificent views of the valleys. As you ascend, it becomes obvious that the powerful forces of nature – ice, water, wind – have sculpted the mountain into a landform that draws you into its kaleidoscope of beauty.
At 14,115 feet above sea level, you are at the mountain’s highest point where the frigid air awaits you. However, that is quickly pushed aside by the pride and joy at having reached the summit.
Like the natural forces that shaped Pikes Peak, your life’s events and experiences help to mold who you become. When you accomplish a goal that you once thought was unachievable, you will feel joyful, excited and proud of what you have achieved. It is indeed a celebratory moment!
Don’t settle for the lowlands; instead, discover your own personal Pikes Peak and go to the summit to experience the joy of a job well done and a life well lived.
The theory put forth by Abraham Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs is that self-actualization is your greatest need; finding self fulfillment. Therefore, use special moments as opportunities to increase your happiness, expand your learning and complete yourself!

I love this! Every moment matters and we need to make the most of every one.
I agree that life experiences shape and mold us as we age. Some of those experiences may not be so pleasant either.
