“If I have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it even if I may not have it at the beginning.”
Mahatma GHANDI
Many of us may be feeling imprisoned by the pandemic and are experiencing some level of anxiety due to job losses and the recent storming of the capitol. Therefore, now more than ever, we need to maintain our wellness activities! So, I thought I would share a bit more on maintaining Mental and Physical Wellness. Your Mental and Physical Wellness are the keys to your success! Lets practice together!
To self preserve, you must be mindful! Self preservation can be defined as “Behavior or set of actions that ensures the survival of an organism.” While mindfulness is modifying your behavior to reduce stress and induce relaxation. It’s not about slowing the aging process, although they both lend themselves to that too! It’s about the continued goal to remain mentally and physically well!
Mindfulness begins the moment we are awake! Set your intentions for the day to ensure a healthy and positive experience!
Meditation
Meditation is a relaxation technique that I personally find quite useful during stressful moments. It’s important that we remain grounded; remain focused and remain centered as this will help to remove unnecessary chatter or noise. Mediating for 10 minutes daily is enough to keep you focused and calm. Learning to meditate may seem challenging at first; your mind begins to wander and you lose focus! However, over time you will learn to stay in the moment and stay focused. You become disciplined! Headspace is my go to place for my mental exercise.
Meditation is a great stress buster! It’s amazing how the mind is able to remove all distractions even in a crowded room or on a crowded bus (yes, meditation works there too!) and place you in a state of quiet relaxation.
Quiet moments of meditation will help you to:
- Define your purpose
- Strengthen your purpose
- Give Power to your purpose
Start your journey; find your quiet place, add a few drops of your favorite aromatherapy oil to your diffuser or massage into your palm and breath! Let the moment be yours!
Religion
Participation in Organized Religion can provide guidance, balance and retrospection. Religion embodies teachings for the promotion of self transformation. This type of group activity can be very uplifting and joyful! Also, it provides a place where you can talk about your feelings and concerns with others.
On the fifth day of the week, many of us breathe a sigh of relief… its FRI-YAY! Let’s make every day of the week FRI-YAY! A good book to get us started is “Every Day A Friday ” by Joel Osteen… it’s filled with great motivational and religious advice, I thoroughly enjoyed all of its 287 pages and I think you will too!
