Humor: Important Role In Wellness

Healing with Laughter

Laughter is a joyful emotional response to activity such as, a fun exchange or humorous writing. The expression of joy alters your mood and protects your heart by stimulating your blood circulation. Additionally, research has shown that you exercise more than 26 facial muscles when you laugh and your brain releases endorphins which help to reduce stress, discomfort and pain. So, the more you laugh the more endorphins are released and the better you will feel. Humor: Important Role In Wellness.

Finding Balance with Laughter

Many individuals lead busy lives and it’s easy for one to become so engrossed in their daily routine responsibilities that they forget to stop and laugh. Including the old adage” laugher is the best medicine” in your life, can help you live a healthier and more balanced lifestyle.

Do you recall how you used to laugh so hard at your friend’s corny joke in school that your ribs hurt and you had to take a break? Do you remember how you would laugh and tear up at the silly things?  Yup, that’s the kind of laughter that you need from time to time. So, laugh…allow the tears to roll down your cheeks; tears of joy are good tears, just let go and laugh like no one is looking.

Release the Inner Child

Humor: Important Role Children Laughing

Children are known to be happy and spontaneous little people. So, occasionally assume a juvenile posture and release your inner child. Throw caution to the wind and express yourself though laughter. Your day will seem less stressful and the challenges will seem like minor interruptions.

Communicate With Humor

Having a sense of humor is a good way to “break the ice”, build friendships and relationships. Shared humorous experiences can help to ease uneasiness during an initial meeting.  Smiles are contagious social connectors…smile at a stranger and he/she usually will smile right back. Put fun in everything you do!
