The change in seasons from summer to autumn marks the beginning of the holiday season for many people. Leaves falling from trees, shorter days, and colder weather are all part of this transition. For me, the best part about the changing of the seasons is the brilliant warm colors of red, brown, and yellow of the leaves on the trees. Yes, the party has begun; the trees appear to be preparing for Thanksgiving in their finest attire!

Giving Thanks – New Season
Thanksgiving is a traditional holiday observed during the fall season on the 4th Thursday in November. Many people associate the day with a festive meal where turkey is the main entrée. Cranberry sauce, green beans and pumpkin pie are popular side dishes included with the meal.
However, almost everyone recognize the day as a time to give thanks – show gratitude and spend it with family and friends. Additionally, some people use it as an opportunity to care for the less fortunate by volunteering to feed the homeless and work in food kitchens. The day marks the start of the holiday season leading up to Christmas and New Years Day.

Extend your gratitude beyond your table and share- a- plate with someone who doesn’t have one. Take a moment to consider those who are alone, without family, have lost loved ones, or may have lost hope as you come together for your celebration. Recognize the less fortunate people in your area and be thankful for the abundance on your table.
