The Day
Valentine’s Day is celebrated globally as a “day of love – a romantic day,” and is a time when many people display affection for the people who are important in their lives. Many people will find innovative ways to celebrate the occasion, such as a romantic candlelight dinner and a weekend out of town. Happy Valentine’s day!
However, one of the purest love gifts is that of life. One that I believe is the ultimate of all acts of love and a true labor of love. Of course, the decision to have a child is a life changing decision and should be considered carefully. The love story …
The Arrival of The Gift – Happy Valentine’s Day
The months of waiting were over and the journey began to bring a new life into the world. I toiled for a while, a long while, until the sound of a powerful wail pierced the still night. It was a great sound, a beautiful triumphant cry. Then there was calm, an eerie quiet one, the kind that one may experience after a great storm, a magnificent storm, followed by an environment filled with eager excitement and anxiety.
The New Human
With awe and great love I looked at the tiny human who had made his triumphant entrance into the world. I wanted to touch and love the tiny human and soon had him nestled in my arms, a tiny fragile human with eyes closed, fingers clenched and a quickening breath.
As the tiny human lay in my arms for a while, his breath gradually became quieter; he was at peace in his new home. The moment was surreal; I had created a tiny human and now must keep him safe. This was my moment to celebrate true love.
The Commitment To Love – Happy Valentine’s day
The tiny human will stay with me for a very long time – years – until he develops independence and the ability to create his own space in a different place. The tiny human must be fed, clothed and led to become the best member of the human race.
I am committed to nurture and to care for him, to love him so nothing can befall him. I must attend to the tiny human’s needs, but I also need to get ready for the day when he won’t need to be held or cuddled but will simply require love. He will grow and come to know that he can always depend on my love.
When he is no longer a tiny human and becomes capable of making his own decisions – right or wrong-, I will simply observe his presence as he lives and creates his own space to welcome a tiny human… one day, maybe, sometime, somewhere.
Labor of Love
The labor of love was a momentous occasion that was led by the love for another person. The occasion has engulfed every fiber of my being and brought great joy into my life. It is love that cannot be restrained and knows no boundary – unconditional love. A parents labor of love creates an unbreakable bond with a child; a bond that creates a love like no other. It is a true labor of love!

Nice !
Kids are tough, that’s for sure! I had two and that’s plenty for me. They are awesome but lots of work, so I completely get when people say they don’t want children.
Such a lovely read. I have two daughters of my own. I love them both a lot, even though they can be a handful at times.
A tiny human is the symbol of our love and we have a lot of love to give to everyone that surrounds us!
This is such a meaningful spin on Valentine’s day, I love it.
That is so lovely. Children are a symbol of our love and to have one on Valentine’s Day of all days is amazing.
